Academic Support
The Academic support plans at New Perspectives are tailored to each client’s starting place and end goal. Our academic support team is made up of multiple tutors coordinated by a special education professional, and our location in Orem, UT provides easy access to multiple educational institutions.

Special Education Professional
Amy Sondrup, CSW, is the Academic Director, as well as being one of the therapists at New Perspectives. She has a background in special education.
Amy's educational focus at New Perspectives is in accessibility services, and assisting clients in finding the right fit for schooling.

Advocation & Communication
The Academic Support team at New Perspectives works with clients to assess and advocate for needed accommodations in academic pursuits. The team will support clients in corresponding with Accessibility Services Departments, completing paperwork, and meeting deadlines.

Tutoring & Study Skills Classes
The New Perspectives Academic Support team provides tutoring services to clients needing support in academic pursuits. Tutoring is provided 1:1.
The New Perspectives Academic Coach tutors clients on how to study. Clients will learn tips for and skills on time management, focus, memory, and more. Clients have the option to take the corresponding Study Skills Course at Utah Valley University while working with the coach .

High School & Concurrent Enrollment
The New Perspectives team supports clients finishing high school or studying for their GED. Clients can complete their secondary education online with 1:1 assistance from a New Perspectives Tutor.
High school students also have the opportunity for concurrent enrollment in pre-college courses at UVU while finishing their secondary degree. -

Utah Valley University
The New Perspectives offices and apartments are located just a 20 minute walk from the UVU campus. UVU offers college courses, dual enrollment for high school students, and certifications.
Non UVU students have access to common areas, and to private study rooms with a New Perspectives tutor. -

Mountainland Technical College
The New Perspectives offices & apartments are within walking & public transportation distance of several of the Mountainland Technical College Orem & Provo Campuses. One building is right across the street!
Mountainland offers apprenticeships and trade & tech certifications.
Meet the Academic Support Team

Amy Sondrup, CSW
Academic Director & Therapist
In addition to Amy's work in the mental health field, she has a background as a special education professional. She has an MA in Social Work.
Amy is trained in EMDR, CBT, sand tray therapy, art therapy, and other modalities. She combines her educational background in her therapy practice to help clients achieve their best version of themselves using the four learning modalities: visual, auditory, tactile, and kinesthetic.
Amy oversees the academic support team at New Perspectives, including the tutors working with students in college courses or graduating online high school. Amy's educational focus is in accessibility services, and assisting clients in finding the right fit for schooling.

Kaytlin Robinson
Academic Coach
Kaytlin is in her last semester of a BA in Special Education.
Her focus at New Perspectives is on Study Skills Training. As she tutors clients, she teaches the skills of how to study, including skills for time management, focus, memory, and more.
Kaitlyn leads the tutoring for students in university-level courses.

Jesse Gibbons
Academic & Financial Coach
Jesse is a student at Utah Valley University, and one of the newest employees at New Perspectives.
Jesse leads the tutoring for clients finishing high school. They also teach personal finance group classes, and meet individually with clients to go over individual finance planning and budgeting.
